A:
Electrically heated glass utilizes an ultra-thin Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) conductive film to generate Joule heating for window defogging, deicing, and constant-temperature laboratory chambers. To design a customized heating panel, the following engineering parameters are evaluated:
-
Operating Voltage & Power Density: Typical power inputs range from 12V DC, 24V DC to 110V/220V AC. The required heating density is typically calculated between 0.05 W/cm² and 0.3 W/cm² depending on environmental ambient temperatures and defogging speed requirements.
-
Target Sheet Resistance (Rs): Matching the voltage and panel aspect ratio to the proper sheet resistance (common values: 7 ohm/sq, 10 ohm/sq, 15 ohm/sq, or 50 ohm/sq) ensures safe, uniform current distribution without hot spots.
-
Busbar Electrode Configuration: High-conductivity silver ceramic paste or copper mesh busbars are printed along opposite edges to supply uniform current feed lines. Soldered lead wires or FPC connectors are attached per CAD specifications.
-
Temperature Limits: ITO coatings operate safely up to 300°C in atmospheric conditions. For higher operational thresholds up to 550°C, FTO conductive glass substrates are used as the substrate alternative.
